Dr. Matthew Tuttle, D.C., was born in Van Nuys, California and was raised in the greater Los Angeles area. At ten years of age, he was diagnosed with scoliosis (a lateral curvature of the spine), and underwent a course of chiropractic care where he saw a dramatic functional improvement in his running when playing soccer. Follow-up x-rays a year later showed he no longer had scoliosis. This began his fascination with chiropractic.
Throughout his life, Dr. Tuttle participated in many sports and was a committed athlete during his high school and college years. He participated in competitive soccer, football, track, and cross-country running with a main focus on wrestling. While completing his prerequisites for Chiropractic school at Moorpark College, he competed on the back-to-back state championship wrestling squad. While there he became very familiar with sports injuries, which spurred his interest in working with athletes.
While continuing his education at San Diego Mesa College, he held an executive
chair with the California Honor Society and became a member of Phi Theta Kappa,
the international honor society. Dr. Tuttle received many awards at San Diego Mesa College including the Dean's Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
Dr. Tuttle received his Chiropractic education at Southern California University of Health Sciences where he excelled in both his studies and his Chiropractic technique.
During this time he won many awards, was president of two technique clubs, was president of the LACC honor society, and was the university's international head delegate to the World Congress of Chiropractic Students. Soon after starting at SCUHS he began working in the student mentor program and was hired by the Anatomy Department to supervise the Open Anatomy Lab.
To deepen his understanding of the human body, he began supplementing his education with seminars on various Chiropractic techniques, blood chemistry, hormones, urinalysis, and nutrition. Dr. Tutttle also became certified in Applied Kinesiology, but decided to pursue Chiropractic Bio-Physics and structural correction as his specialty.
Dr. Tuttle graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern California University of Health Sciences and received many awards at graduation including the nomination for Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. In his free time, Dr.Tuttle enjoys surfing, hiking, gardening, mountain biking and doing crossfit.
